Ok, So this is my first blog and I'm going to try to stay on topic, what that topic is, I don't know. I guess the topic is me. I'm going to be leaving for the Peace Corps in June 2012 (it's November 2011 now, and it's starting to go really fast..) My assignment is science education in Burkina Faso. I"m really excited! This is going to be great and awesome, and enlightening, and probably full of bugs, possibly dysentery, malaria, and maybe some new and exciting infection that nobody knows about yet!
So this will be a blog of my journey and the months and weeks leading up to it. I'm looking forward to posting about the advancement of my applications and the new things that I learn leading up to and while I'm in Burkina Faso!
How did all this occur to you ? Did you wake up one day and decided to join Peace Corps or was it a slower, deeper, humanitarian soul waking up ?

Deletehey Johan, I decided to join peace corps about two years ago, my aunt and uncle joined and met in Swaziland in the 80s and they are ki nd of heros in the family for having done it. my personal reasons extend more about wanting to share my privilege and knowledge to people who really need it, and my love of adventure. I'm so excited to be in africa! I already feel so at home here. I love all the people I've met so far and I know this will change my life forever, I'll probably be that annoying kid who starts every sentence with..."when I was in Africa.....". but anyhow, I know I'll have the best survival skills of any of my friends when I get back!
